A picture book entitled Meika Gafu (Picture Album by Celebrated Artists) included the forty-five pictures of flowers and (or) birds shown in this gallery. Click on a picture to enlarge it. These pictures were drawn mostly by artists active in the late 1800s and early 1900s who used a Japanese drawing style that blended elements of Chinese and European art. The book was edited by Naosaburō Yamada and published in 1913.
